Here are some frequently asked questions. If your question is not answered, please do not hesitate in contacting us.
Q. Do you only accomodate scrapbooking groups?
A. We welcome all groups to Whispering Acres, whether you are a family or a group of friends who just want to get away, a business group that is looking for some team bonding, or a bible study group looking for some solitude and reflection. We have the space and amenities to meet all of your needs.
Q. Where are you located?
A. We are located about an hour and a half northwest of the Twin Cities. We are about 10 minutes from I-94 West, near Albany, Minnesota.
Directions from I-94 and MN-238/EXIT 147 (Albany) - turn RIGHT onto MN-238/8th St. S (go 0.2 miles); turn RIGHT onto RAILROAD AVE/MN 238 (4-way stop, go 0.5 miles); turn LEFT onto 1st St/MN-238 (go 0.5 miles); turn RIGHT onto CR-10 (go 2.7 miles); turn LEFT onto CR-152 (go 1.0 mile); turn RIGHT onto 390th St. The driveway is the first one on your left.
Q. What are the sleeping arrangements?
A. We are licensed to accomodate up to 12 guests at one time. Bedroom number one has four single beds; bedroom number two has a queen and a single in it; bedroom number three has three single beds. All three of these bedrooms share a full bath with a double vanity. There is also a master bedroom with a queen and a single and its own master bath. The master bath includes a shower and claw foot tub. There is also a full pull-out bed in the living room. And there is an additional 3/4 bath downstairs.
Q. What are our meal options?
A. Your group is invited to provide their own meals. The full service kitchen will have everything you need to prepare your meals. The main kitchen is equipped with a stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave and gourmet cooking essentials such as a crock pot, toaster, coffee pot, blender, pots and pans, skillet, cookie sheets and cake pans, serving dishes and much more. If you have a specific question, please let us know.
We also provide you with a listing of local restaurants, whether you want to order pizza or drive to St. Cloud, which offers a great variety of restaurants to choose from. St. Cloud is about a 30 minute drive from Whispering Acres.
Q. What is the Check-In and Check-Out time?
A. Check-In Time: 12:00 PM / Check-Out Time: 3:00 PM. These times may be flexible upon request.
Q. Is smoking allowed inside the house? Are pets allowed?
A. We are a non-smoking house. We also do not allow any pets inside of the house.
Q. What do we need to bring?
A. We will provide linens, towels and pillows for each guest. We also provide all of your basic cooking supplies, as well as some basic staples and spices. You need only provide your personal necessities and any food and beverages that you would like to enjoy during your stay.
Q. How do you access the scrapbooking area?
A. Whispering Acres is a split level house. There are seven steps that you have to go down in order to access the scrapbooking area. They are not steep steps, and the walk way is fairly wide.
Q. What is there to do in the area?
A. LOTS! Depending on the season there are a variety of outdoor activites, including: The Lake Wobegon Trail for biking and snowmobile. We are located on 100 acres of woodlands with beautiful walking or snow shoeing paths back to three scenic lakes. In the summer, a canoe is available to enjoy the serenity of one of the lakes, or perhaps a little fishing. Also, the Albany Golf Course is only 5 minutes away.
For those individuals who would like to stay inside and relax, there are plenty of quiet spaces both inside and out to sit back and enjoy your favorite book or simply enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. You will have access to a library of books and DVDs for your enjoyment. We have also provided wireless high speed internet and a large scrapbooking area for those more crafty individuals.
And finally, St. Cloud is only 30 minutes away. Here you can find anything to satisfy your desire for a night out, whether it is bowling, taking in the latest movie, dining out or dancing! There is something for everyone!
Q. Are there any scrapbooking stores in the area?
A. There is a Crafts Direct, as well as a Target, Wal Mart and Michaels, located in St. Cloud, about a half hour drive from Whispering Acres. www.craftsdirect.com Directions will be provided to these locations.
